Movie Suggestion

Today was a fairly normal day...Art History (BLEH!) and then some 2D Design and then back to the dorm. I watched a movie today though that I had not watched in a long time. I just wanna give a quick review.

The Core
Directed by: Jon Amiel

First of all, this was a great acting job by Aaron Eckhart and Hilary Swank. Actually, it was really a good acting job for most all of the main actors in the movie. If you are well versed in your contemporary movies then you will see a lot of familiar faces other than Eckhart and Swank. Anyway, it was a very original idea for the whole apocalyptic genre. I get tired of all the stuff about natural events and disasters throwing this world into mass chaos and ultimate destruction, because I can quite honestly see US destroying this planet before any natural desaster does. And this is exactly what happens. A military program called DESTINI (destiny), which creates targeted earth quakes by firing EMP (electro magnetic pules) into the earth's crust, has thrown off the flow of the earth's core. This is not good due to the fact that it is that large amount of spinning, molten metal that keeps our electro magnetic field (which protects us from solar winds and harmful microwaves) running. Large scale disasters begin tearing our planet apart and throw into motion a grand plan to "jump start" the planet again.

I don't want to give away anymore of the story. So lets get to the actual review. I believe this is a good example of a well made and well writen sci-fi movie. Many good sci-fi movies are swept under the rug due simply to the amount of crummy sci-fi movies out there. There are VERY few complaints about this movie. You can see a few shaky camera shots that could have been fixed and the CGI is nothing to be amazed at. Considering that the movie was made a good 5-6 years ago, the CGI is not TERRIBLE. But by today's standards, you will not be in awe of it. Those are my only two real complaints. For the most part, the acting was right on. You will always have those awkward lines that sound like they needed to be reshot, but no one's perfect. The story REALLY moves. It is a fast paced movie and you need to pay attention or else you run the risk of missing something. I love movie like that cause it teaches people to actually WATCH the moview they decide to put in their DVD player. Haha! You are never bored during this movie. The characters face a large range of emotional and physical conflict. The twists are semi unpredicted. The ending is pretty predictable if you frequently watch these kinds of movies, but in all it is a very original story line. I suggest this to anyone looking for an exciting movie that takes an original twist on the concept of the apocalyptic genre.

Video Work

Today was fairly productive. I was able to go out after lunch and film a little random video of some stuff around Savannah. I played around with the color and put it to some music. I am gonna try to get it online later tonight and I will post it on here as soon as possible. I gotta get to work on my 2D Design project that is due tomorrow. I have gotten most of it done. I jut have to get some stuff printed and cut out. Those 2D projects are so dumb and tedious. They always have a purpose to them and I understand why we are doing them, but they're still kind of frustrating.

Anyway, I will edit this post later when I have the video ready for posting. Thanks for reading!

Here ya go!!

College Life

This is a whole new beast...I have never experienced a change like this one. All I am able to do is live the way I know I am supposed to a hold on for the ride. I am taking in so much new information right now. There are days when I think that my brain is going to simply explode from an information overload. I had to memorize 200+ works of art for my latest Art History exam! I was talking to a local pastor about a week ago and he asked me if there was anything that he could pray specifically for in my life. I told him that I needed patience and boy is that the truth. There are so many projects that we have to do here that are so tedious and time consuming. They do teach you the concepts and they are not just busy work, but they still require a large amount of patience. For example:

This took me over 10 hours to finish! It is an 8.5 x 11 work!! It took so long becasue we had to use a different symbol in each one of those grid squares to show the value. It was all done in ink. UGH!

Anyway, then there are the people. I have made many friends, but there have been our problems. You can really tell that this is our first time living with people our own age. There are the times where it is totally off the wall crazy and fun and we all get along......and then there are the times where we wanna rip each other's throats out.

About the food......it depends on where you go. J.O.'s is pretty much the most amazing place on the planet. But then there's SCafe.....which is the most disgusting palce on earth. So if you know where to go here, you can get some really good food. There is also the sub shop. That is where you go if you get lazy and lose track of time. They are open till midnight while the other places are only open till like 8:30. They are pretty good. I have eaten a LARGE amount of subs this year.

Well, on a completely different note, I did not "go" to church today. I was feeling lazy and missing home, so I attended the online campus for my home church, Barefoot Church. It was an amazing message on being "glowsticks" in the world. We need to be BROKEN and then we need to SHAKE things up and then ILLUMINATE. It was a great message and the production of the internet campus is getting better and better. There were a few bugs at the 6PM service, but it was still good.

So yea, this has gone on long enough. I will let you all get back to your lives. Thanks for reading and God bless!
