AP World History; Christian Church; 50 Points?

Outline the institutionalization of the Christian Church. How did the Church move from being a small, persecuted sect to one of the most important political players in Europe and the Mediterranean basin?

I believe it became one of the most important political players in Europe and the Mediterranean basin thanks to vladimir the 1st(russia) who decided that their wasnt a religion that consolidate power the way the christian religion does,so he Christianize his people in exchange for the hand of the byzantine emperor sister “Anna” and 6,000 Varangians…note;(they also shared the same sea)

(it was thanks to greed and convenience that Christianity gained so much power)

lol “pretty ironic and sad wouldnt you agree”

A Brief History of the End of the World

A Brief History of the End of the World

$4.58

Most people’s concept of the ‘end of the world’ comes from the book of Revelation. Today, there are an estimated 25 million Christian fundamentalists in the US who believe it will come with the ‘Rapture;’ others point to an ecological catastrophe, the AIDS pandemic, nuclear and biological warfare. With the benefit of a vast historical canvas, Pearson examines both apocalyptic theory (biblical literature, art, and popular culture) and practice (politics, cults, war, and revolution), from its Biblical beginnings to the Branch Davidians, via the Vikings, the French Revolution, the Pilgrim Fathers, Hitler’s Apocalyptic rhetoric, asteroids, Hollywood and suicide bombers. Pearson’s illuminating study shows how our pictures of the end of the world have evoked and converged–and are still very much on the agenda.

 A Concise History of Poland

A Concise History of Poland

$26.99

The second edition of this guide to Poland has been updated to take account of the years from 1989?2005. This period marked its liberation from the Soviet Union, the birth of Poland’s ‘Third Republic’ and, recently, its accession to the European Union in 2004. Poland’s history has been marked by its resilience. Once a dominant force in central and eastern Europe and home to a remarkable experiment in consensual politics, it was excised from the map by its neighbours in 1795. Resurrected in 1918, partitioned afresh during the Second World War, it survived to become a satellite of the Soviet Union. Yet in the 1980s, it was Poland which blazed the trail in casting off communism, and was finally able to reassert its Christian heritage. With its updated bibliography and new chronology, the book is the ideal companion for all looking for a comprehensive survey of this fascinating country.
